Casualia
Casualia or casual acts (from the Latin casus , the case) are official ecclesiastical acts for a special occasion, usually for an event of particular personal importance in a person's life. The sociologist Arnold van Gennep coined the term "rites de passage" ("threshold rituals", rituals of passage). Traditionally, such rites of passage are mainly Christian cultures in the life of Baptism , First Communion , Confirmation / Confirmation , church wedding and church funeral . Other occasions for casual practice are newer casuals, e.g. B. Anniversary chasuals for marriage anniversaries or gold confirmations, transitions to retirement, church services for school enrollment or historical-political or other public funeral and memorial services.
In contrast to the liturgy of the church year , which is celebrated regularly and without the express request of one or more believers , the casualia come about and are determined by a specific occasion.
In some casuals , such as baptism or the church wedding in the Catholic and Orthodox churches, sacraments are given or received. Others, such as the church funeral, are, according to the teaching of the Catholic Church, sacramentals (salvation-effective signs).
In some Roman Catholic dioceses, ministerial services (e.g. casuals such as baptism) are remunerated through a pride fee .
Protestant church
Earlier ecclesiastical orders used the terms ceremonies , church services or church activities for casualia .
For most casuals or for participating in them, depending on the regional church, church membership is usually a prerequisite (in the case of a wedding, both wives must be members of the church, in the case of a baptism (child baptism) the parents of the child and at least one godparent ). A dimissorial is necessary so that casualia can be carried out in a community other than your own local community , e.g. B. needed someone or godfather in another parish will be as one's own, a patent certificate .
