Christian Grethlein

Christian Grethlein (born August 30, 1954 in Nuremberg ) is a German Protestant theologian , author and university professor .

Life

Grethlein was born in Nuremberg in 1954. After leaving school, he studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Munich , Göttingen and Erlangen in the 1970s . In 1978 he became vicar in Munich. After that he was pastor and religion teacher in Regensburg from 1980 to 1984 . In the 1980s, Grethlein received his doctorate and habilitation. From 1988 to 1992 Grethlein was a lecturer and professor for practical theology at the Kirchliche Hochschule Berlin . From 1992 to 1997 he was Professor of Religious Education at the University of Halle-Wittenberg and from October 1997 to March 2020 Professor of Practical Theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . From 2010 to 2012 he received the magnum opus grant from the Volkswagen Foundation .

His students include the religious educators Bernd Schröder , Christhard Lück , Michael Domsgen , Marcell Saß and Anna-Katharina Lienau.
