Christhard Lück (born January 5, 1967 in Hagen , Westphalia ) is a German Protestant theologian , author and religious educator .

Life

Lück was born in 1967. After graduating from the Ernst-Meister-Gymnasium in Hagen- Haspe , he studied Protestant theology and education in Wuppertal , Bochum and Münster from 1986 to 1993 . In 1993 he completed his studies with the First Theological Exam in Bielefeld . From 1994 to 2000 he worked as a research assistant at the seminar for practical theology and religious education at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . Between 2000 and 2003 he was vicar in the Protestant parish of Wolbeck . In 2002 he received his doctorate in theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster with summa cum laude. The dissertation Religious Education in Primary School - but how? was awarded one of the doctoral prizes of the theological faculties of Münster University on January 16, 2004. In 2003 Lück passed the Second Theological Examination in Bielefeld and completed his habilitation in Protestant theology at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster with a monograph on the profession of religion teacher . After substituting a chair at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal in the winter semester 2003/2004 and in the summer semester 2004, Christhard Lück held the post of university professor for religious education and didactics of Protestant religious teaching there since December 22, 2004. On December 22, 2019, the Protestant theologian celebrated his fifteen-year service anniversary at Wuppertal University. On December 31, 2019, he retired for health reasons. Christhard Lück was awarded the teaching award of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal ("Bergischer Lehrlöwe") three times (2007, 2008, 2014) for outstanding university teaching. In 2012 he published the results of extensive empirical research on the study motives, expectations, burdens and goals of 1603 students of Protestant and Catholic theology and religious education in Germany. In 2014, together with Martin Rothgangel ( University of Vienna ) and Philipp Klutz (Catholic Private University Linz), he presented the results of a 2013 survey of almost 1100 religious teachers from all types of schools to a broader public, commissioned by the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .

Lück's research and publications focus on the theory and practice of religious education in primary schools , Bible didactics, denominational-cooperative religious education, empirical religious education (quantitative method paradigm) and the communication of the Gospel in the context of modern football . In addition, he publishes, mostly together with the head of department a. D. and the lecturer at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal Gunther vom Stein, school-type-specific lesson designs and materials for religious instruction in schools. In his spare time he writes crime novels with Andrea Timm that are at home in the church environment.
