São Francisco is a district ( bairro ) of the municipality of Curitiba , the capital of the Brazilian state Paraná . It is located in the center and is one of the historic districts with great tourist attraction.
The earliest name was Pátio de Nossa Senhora do Terço (Court of Our Lady of the Rosary). In 1752 this church property came into the possession of the Franciscans and became the Pátio de São Francisco das Chagas (Court of San Francisco das Chagas). In 1860 the property was changed to Largo da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco (Square of the Third Order of Saint Francis), with the abbreviated form São Francisco becoming popular over time and used in the mapping and division of Curitiba into districts or bairros at the beginning of the 20th century Century.
São Francisco is one of the 18 bairros of the inner-city administrative region Matriz , officially Portuguese Administração Regional da Matriz , also known as sub-prefecture . The area is only 1.36 km².
The main connecting routes are: Avenida Jaime Reis, Avenida Manoel Ribas, Rua Inácio Lustosa, Rua Trajano Reis, Rua Kellers, Rua Duque de Caxias, Rua Treze de Maio, Rua Emílio de Menezes, Rua Senador Xavier da Silva, Rua Presidente Carlos Cavalcanti, Alameda Augusto Stellfeld and Alameda Cabral.
Tourist destinations are the entire Centro Histórico de Curitiba , Museu Paranaense , Relógio das Flores , Praça Garibaldi, Cemitério São Francisco de Paula, Templo Muçulmano, Memorial de Curitiba, Sociedade Garibaldi, Clube Concórdia, Palácio das Telecomunicaçõdem or the Largo daõdem.
