Katharina Schirk

Katharina Schirk (born July 14, 1989 in Neunkirchen , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian cellist and composer.

Life

Schirk began taking cello lessons at the age of seven. After lessons in the music school and a preparatory class with Diethard Auner, she studied first with Stefan Kropfitsch in 2006 and then with Othmar Müller at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt IGP and concert subject cello. In master classes she took lessons from Valter Dešpalj, Julius Berger, Mats Lidström, Reinhard Latzko and Patrick Demenga, among others. Her concert activities (Haydn Hall, Esterházy Palace, Stadttheater Wiener Neustadt, Wartholz Palace and Reichenau Palace) include solo appearances, participation in various ensembles at home and abroad as well as projects with Katharina Stemberger, Marie-Luise Schottleitner, Norbert Mang and Peter Fridecky. Her pieces have been performed at the Wiener Musikverein and Esterházy Palace, among others. She teaches the cello at three music schools in Lower Austria.
