Catherine of Nuremberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Katharina von Nürnberg († November 9, 1409 ) was abbess of the Hof monastery from 1391 to 1409 .

Katharina came from the house of the Franconian Hohenzollern family and was a daughter of the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich V and Elisabeth von Meißen . There is evidence that she lived between 1375 and 1409 and was last abbess of the Poor Clares in Hof . The withdrawal of the Counts of Orlamünde from the Franconian area led, similar to the development in the Himmelkron monastery with Anna of Nuremberg , an aunt of Katharina, to an occupation of the abbess's office with daughters of the Nuremberg burgraves.
