The Katharinen-Gymnasium is a high school in Ingolstadt . It was founded on May 1, 1965, initially as a girls' high school, and co-education was introduced in the 1980/81 school year .

Training directions

The school has a scientific and technological branch with English as the first and French or Latin as the second foreign language with a focus on computer science , physics and chemistry , the economic and social science branch with a social science focus with English as the first, Latin or French as the second foreign language and social studies as a further core subject from the 8th grade with the main subjects social studies and social practical basic education / social internship , as well as the linguistic branch with English as the first, Latin as the second and French as the third foreign language. In all three courses, Spanish is offered as a foreign language that starts late as a substitute for the second foreign language.

The architect of the school building was Hardt-Waltherr Hämer , who also designed the Ingolstadt City Theater . The main building has been a listed building since 2013.

Awards

The grammar school is one of eight Bavarian grammar schools selected by the Ministry of Culture for the pilot project Center of Excellence - Center for School Quality of the Bavarian Education Pact Foundation .

In 2008 the grammar school was named the 2008 Youth Research School .

Since 2013 the school has been one of three Bavarian partner schools of the "International School for Holocaust Studies" in Yad Vashem. The cooperation with Yad Vashem has existed since 2007 and includes regular video conferences, training, the exchange of teaching materials and seminars.

Also in 2013 the school was named a "mint-friendly school".

The grammar school is one of 47 Bavarian model schools that offer the "Mittelstufe +", in which the students complete the intermediate level in four instead of three years.

In December 2015, the French Consul General inaugurated a plaque for Charles de Gaulle at Katharinen-Gymnasium.

In the school year 2016/17 the Katharinen-Gymnasium will become a regional "competence center for individual support".
