Career

Katherine Swee Phek Teh celebrated her first major international success in 1978 at the Commonwealth Games , where she was able to advance to the final of the women's singles. But there she lost to her compatriot Sylvia Ng . Together with Ng, Abu Bakar Sufian, Whee Chee Geok, Moo Foot Lian, James Selvaraj, Saw Swee Leong and Ong Teong Boon, she also won the bronze medal in the team competition at the same event. In mixed with James Selvaraj , however, she was eliminated in the 3rd round. With Sylvia Ng she failed in doubles in the quarterfinals.

At the Commonwealth Games 1982 she took part again in all four disciplines, but remained medalless. She failed both in singles, in doubles with Lean Leong Chai, in mixed with Ong Beng Teong and with the team consisting of her, James Selvaraj, Ong Beng Teong, Lean Leong Chai and Razif Sidek in the preliminary round.

Even at the Asian Games in 1978, despite winning the game against the strong Japanese Nobutaka Ikeda and Yoshiko Yonekura in mixed, it was not enough for a medal.
