Sylvia Ng

Sylvia Ng Meow Eng (born September 24, 1949 in Johor Bahru ) is a former badminton player from Malaysia .

Career

Sylvia Ng celebrated her first major international success in 1969 at the Southeast Asian Games, where she won the women's singles. Four years later she was successful again in the women's singles at the same event. In 1970 she won the mixed competition at Belgian International with Ng Boon Bee . At the Asian Games in 1970 she was also successful with Bee in mixed and was third in singles. With Bee, she won the Canada Open in mixed a year later .

At the Commonwealth Games in 1974 she won the bronze medal in women's doubles together with Rosalind Singha Ang . She ended the 1974 Asian Games without a medal after there were arguments in advance that Ng was not seeded for the individual. In 1977 she won gold again at the Southeast Asian Games as her last major success .
