Kathleen Thompson Norris (born July 16, 1880 in San Francisco , California , † January 18, 1966 in Palo Alto , California) was an American writer .

Life

Kathleen Thompson graduated from the University of California, Berkeley , and then became a journalist for several California newspapers. During this time she began writing short stories, which she was able to publish in several magazines. She met the Chicago journalist Charles Gilman Norris , the younger brother of the American writer Frank Norris , whom she married in 1909. She moved with him to Palo Alto in 1928 in search of a suitable place to raise their children , where she lived until her death.

As early as 1911, five years before her husband, Norris made her debut as a writer with Mother . By 1935 she wrote over 50 books, 17 of which were made into films. With her feminist commitment and her successful books, which were often played in the upper class in California, she made it onto the cover of the January 28th with the headline A Woman of Certain Importance (Eng. "A woman of certain importance") Time magazines.
