Kathleen Wynne (born May 21, 1953 in Richmond Hill , Ontario ) is a Canadian politician of the Ontario Liberal Party .

Life

Wynne studied at Queen's University in Kingston . She became a member of the Ontario Liberal Party . She became a member of the Ontario Legislative Assembly for the Don Valley West constituency in 2003, replacing David Turnbull .

Successor to Dalton McGuinty , Wynne was Prime Minister of the Province of Ontario from February 2013 to June 2018.

Her first marriage was to Phil Cowperthwaite from 1977 to 1990, with whom she has three children. In her second marriage she married Jane Rounthwaite. She is the first woman and the first openly gay ( lesbian ) living person in the office of Prime Minister of Ontario. Wynne lives in Toronto.
