Legal dispute with the Diocese of Chur

In 2012, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Chur applied for the end of support payments from the Graubünden Catholic Church to the private counseling center Adebar , which advises on contraception , among other things . In the legal dispute between the diocese and the regional church, which lasted until 2019, the federal court decided that the contribution to the Adebar association did not violate the freedom of belief of the Roman Catholic Church. In the background there is a conflict over the role of the parallel institutions under public law, the diocese and the regional church, whereby the regional church has sovereignty over church taxes and is allowed to determine how the funds are used.
