The Catholic University of La Plata ( Spanish : Universidad Católica de la Plata ), UCALP for short, is a Catholic university with headquarters in La Plata in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires .
The university was founded on March 7, 1964 as Universidad Comunitaria y Católica by the Archdiocese of La Plata . In 1966 the name was changed to Universidad Católica de la Plata . In 1968 the provisional state recognition could take place and in 1971 the full state recognition was granted. In addition to the headquarters in La Plata, there are locations in Bernal and Hurlingham .
