Kathrin Türks Prize

The Kathrin-Türks-Preis is a prize for new youth plays by female authors . It is named after the first director of the Burghofbühne Dinslaken theater , Kathrin Türks (1921–1983). The prize, which is awarded every two years, was awarded for the first time in 1986 and revived in 2008 after 1994.

In 2012 the prize includes prize money of 7,500 euros as well as the world premiere of the play at the Landestheater Burghofbühne Dinslaken in the following theater season. The prize money was donated by the city of Dinslaken , the Burghofbühne Friends' Association and the Dinslaken-Voerde-Hünxe Sparkasse .

The first time the prize was awarded to Ingeborg Bayer , then in 1988 to Lilly Axster , Eva Rottmann (* 1983) and Magdalena Grazewicz (* 1977) have been the winners since 2008. In 2012, the five jurors received 123 entries from 109 authors. The Berlin author Anja Tuckermann won the award for her play "Waiting that life begins". It describes the fate of the children of migrant workers who stayed at home in Turkey. It was commissioned by the Goethe-Institut Ankara in 2011 for “Tiyatro Tempo”, where it was also premiered. The German premiere took place on January 18, 2013 in the Kathrin-Türks-Halle Dinslaken. Ismail Demiz directed.
