Kate De Goldi (born August 18, 1959 in Christchurch , New Zealand , full name: Kathleen Domenica De Goldi) is a writer of novels and short stories for children and young people. She is mainly known to a larger audience for her internationally acclaimed youth novel in the evenings at 10 am.

Life

Kate De Goldi was born in Christchurch in 1959, grew up there and now lives in Wellington . She has received several awards for her short stories and novels. For her book in the evening at 10 she received the "New Zealand Post Book of the Year Award" and the "Readers' Choice Award" and was on the bestseller list. Several of Kate de Goldi's books have also been translated into German. In addition to her work as a book author, she also writes journalistic articles and regularly reviews books on radio and television.

In 2012 she was a member of the jury for the award The Extraordinary Book of the children and youth program of the Berlin International Literature Festival .

Literary meaning

Kate De Goldi is best known for her novel at 10pm , which has been very well received in the press. In Die Welt , Annette Pehnt writes that this book is "magical.
