Kathrin Thiele

Kathrin Thiele (* 1980 in Wolfen ) is a visual artist who lives and works in Leipzig . She belongs to the younger generation of painters of the so-called New Leipzig School .

Life

Kathrin Thiele was born in Wolfen and grew up in Zörbig near Bitterfeld .

In 2000 she began studying painting / graphics at the University of Graphic Arts and Book Art in Leipzig in the specialist class with Arno Rink and Neo Rauch , which she graduated with a diploma in 2006. From 2006 to 2009 she was a master class student with Neo Rauch.

The paintings, which are mostly in a dark color spectrum, show deserted, atmospherically dense landscapes that seem puzzling and mysterious. The mood alternates between restless loneliness and impending danger.

Since 2006 she has presented her works at numerous exhibitions, including at Gut Selikum Neuss, the Anhaltische Gemäldegalerie Dessau, the Museum Höxter, the Philara Collection in Düsseldorf and the KORSO exhibition curated by Rosa Loy (2010).

In 2007 she received a Saxon state scholarship for master class students.
