Kati Engel (born July 19, 1982 in Karl-Marx-Stadt , today Chemnitz as Kati Grund ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and a member of the Thuringian state parliament .

Education, job and private life

After graduating from high school , Engel first studied physics between 2001 and 2010, then mathematics and German to become a teacher, and finally theology without obtaining a degree. She then completed vocational training as an event manager , which she completed in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 she was a personal assistant to the state parliament member Johanna Scheringer-Wright .

Engel is married and has two children.

politics

Engel has been a member of Die Linke and the party-affiliated youth association Linksjugend ['solid] since 2003 .

In the state elections in 2014 and 2019 , she entered the state parliament via the state list . There she was initially spokesperson for children, youth and education for her parliamentary group.

During the constitution of the state parliament, Engel caused a scandal because she wore clothes with a political message. This violated the order of the state parliament.

She maintains the open youth and constituency office "RosaLuxx." In Eisenach .

Memberships

In 2012 and 2013, Engel was a member of the ver.di Erfurt local board . Since 2018 she has been the deputy state chairwoman of the Thuringian Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime / Association of Antifascists (TVVdN / BdA).
