The Katima Mulilo Bridge ( English Katima Mulilo Bridge ), also Zambezi Bridge (English Zambezi Bridge ) is a bridge and simultaneously Namibian border crossing over the Zambezi River between the towns of Katima Mulilo in Namibia (on the south bank) and Sesheke in Zambia (on the North bank). The Katima Mulilo Bridge (Bridge 508) is an important link within the Trans-Caprivi Corridor (English Trans-Caprivi Corridor ). The B8 national road runs over it from Walvis Bay to Livingstone in Zambia and it forms the only bridge crossing over the Zambezi River for hundreds of kilometers.
The concrete structure consists of 17 fields, each 47.10 meters long. The two end fields are 38.35 meters long. The bridge structure is a total of 877.4 meters long. The total width of the bridge deck is 10.1 meters. It is laid out in a radius of 1600 m and extends over the Katima rapids. The bridge was designed for a flood of the century.
The bridge was inaugurated on May 13, 2004 after more than 20 years of political wrangling and technical planning by the then Namibian President Sam Nujoma in Katima Mulilo. It was manufactured using the incremental launching process under the management of Hochtief .
