Katja Pieweck

Katja Pieweck (* before 1989 in Hanover ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano / dramatic soprano). She has been singing at the Hamburg State Opera since 1997 .

Life

Katja Pieweck studied singing from 1989 to 1996 at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , with Judith Beckmann among others . From 1997 to 1999 she was sponsored by the Körber Foundation as a member of the Hamburg International Opera Studio , and took over the Valencienne in The Merry Widow at the Hamburg State Opera . In 1999 she was permanently accepted into the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera . In 2000 Katja Pieweck was awarded the Culture Prize of the Berenberg Bank Foundation , in 2007 she received the Dr. Wilhelm Oberdoerffer Prize of the Foundation for the Promotion of the Hamburg State Opera .

In addition to her regular appearances in Hamburg, she has made guest appearances at the Berlin State Opera , in Munich and in Hanover . Her repertoire includes the Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni , the Mercédès from Carmen , the Suzuki from Madama Butterfly , the Siegrune from the Walküre and the Fricka from Rheingold ., As well as Brangäne from Tristan and Isolde and Ortrud from the Lohengrin , Here she made her celebrated role debut on May 12, 2013 at the Hamburg State Opera. Her repertoire also includes the title role from Ariadne auf Naxos and Leonore from Fidelio .
