Katja Ziliox

Katja Ziliox (born April 25, 1970 in Hüttental ) is a former German swimmer .

The 1.75 meter tall Ziliox, named Katja Burbach after her marriage , initially started for the Neptun Siegerland swimming association . Before the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , she joined the SG DAB Hansa Dortmund . There she secured herself participation in the Olympics over the 100-meter freestyle route as well as the 200-meter back distance. At the German Championships in the run-up to the games, she won the runner-up title on the 100-meter freestyle course with a time of 57.30 seconds. In the Olympic competition, she then retired prematurely in this discipline as a preliminary eighth and finished 31st in the final bill. Over 200 meters back she was seventh in the prelim and reached place 28 with her time of 2: 26.25 minutes. She also started in the prelim in the seventh-placed German 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay. In the following year, Ziliox won the bronze medal with that relay at the European Championships held in Bonn . In the individual, she emerged as the winner of the B-final over 50-meter freestyle. The former swimmer lives today (as of 2013) in Dortmund.
