Brian "Kato" Kaelin (born March 9, 1959 in Milwaukee ) is an American actor .

Life

Kaelin has played various roles in US series , reality formats and television films since the 1980s .

In the criminal trial against OJ Simpson , Kaelin was a key witness for the prosecution. At the time, Kaelin was living free of charge as a "house guest" with OJ Simpson . Previously, he had lodged with Simpson's murdered ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson . Since Simpson feared an affair between the two, he had offered Kato to live with him instead and to help him with his hitherto largely unsuccessful acting career. According to Kaelin, he spent part of the evening with Simpson. Simpson was able to provide an alibi for this time . In addition, Kaelin gave further testimony about the emotional state of the Simpsons that night. Kaelin testified that Simpson helped him apply for acting roles. In addition, Simpson had asked him to extend his statement that he spent part of the evening in Simpson's presence to the alleged time of the crime. Kaelin did not make such a statement when he was questioned under oath.

After the trial, Kaelin traveled through the USA with a reality format and tried to stay with various celebrities as a "house guest". In the television series American Crime Story , the first season of which was about the Simpson trial, he was played by Billy Magnussen . Kaelin himself rejected the representation as "inaccurate".
