Katowicki Holding Węglowy SA was a Polish joint-stock company owned by the Polish Ministry of the Treasury .
history
The "Katowice Holding Węglowy" was on 29 June 1993 by the merger of the 11 coal mines: Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Murcki , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Kazimierz Juliusz , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Katowice , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Śląsk , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Niwka-Modrzejów , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Kleofas , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Wujek , Kopalnia węgla Kamiennego Wesoła , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Wieczorek , Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Mysłowice and Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Staszic .
In 1996 Katowice and Kleofas merged to form KWK Katowice-Kleofas . In the same year the Niwka-Modrzejów and Kazimierz-Juliusz mines were converted into a Sp. Z oo . In 1999 the old Katowice mine was closed and in 2004 the mining of Katowice-Kleofas was completely stopped. In 2005, Wujek and Śląsk were merged to form Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Wujek with the two departments "Ruch Wujek" and "Ruch Śląsk". Mysłowice and Wesoła were also merged into KWK Mysłowice-Wesoła in 2007 and Murcki and Staszic into KWK Murcki-Staszic in 2010 .
The IPO planned for 2009 was canceled again and the holding company looked for other ways of refinancing and in 2009 issued corporate bonds totaling PLN 900 million.
present
In 2015 the Murcki-Staszic , Mysłowice-Wesoła , Wujek and Wieczorek mines belonged to the holding company. The Kazimierz-Juliusz mine, which was also operated in the past, was spun off on November 6, 2014 into Spółka Restructureyzacji Kopalń SA. The "Boże Dary" department of the Murcki-Staszic mine was also sold to this restructuring company on July 1, 2015, with the aim of partially closing it.
Due to liabilities of PLN 2.5 billion, an agreement was signed on March 1, 2017, according to which KHW will become part of Polska Grupa Górnicza. This was completed on April 1, when the mines Mysłowice-Wesoła , Murcki-Staszic , Wieczorek and Wujek as well as the Śląskie Centrum Usług Wspólnych were transferred to the Polska Grupa Górnicza.
