Branislav "Branjo" Heisig (born November 3, 1969 in Košice , Czechoslovakia ; † autumn 1997 in Bratislava ) was a German - Slovak ice hockey player ( striker ) who during his career for HC Košice , SC Memmingen , ES Weißwasser , the Kassel Huskies and the EHC Neuwied played.

Career

Heisig began his career in the 1990/91 season with HC Košice in the Czechoslovak 1st division of Czechoslovakia , but moved to Germany during the season , where he worked for SC Memmingen almost until the end of the 1993/94 season, initially in the Oberliga Süd and later went on the ice in the 2nd League South and the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1994/95 season he played for the ES Weißwasser in the German Ice Hockey League , for which he completed three games in the preseason in which he scored two goals. In the following season he signed a two-year contract with the league competitor Kassel Huskies , before he played from the 1996/97 season at EHC Neuwied in the 1st League North . With Neuwied, Heisig became champions in the first division in 1996/97 and also won the DEB League Cup with the club . After his son died, Heisig took a break for the 1997/98 season and kept fit in Slovakia at HC Slovan Bratislava . Heisig died in a car accident on the way home from training in 1997 at the age of 28.
