Life

Becker received her diploma at the University of Bonn in Werner Nahm , where it was in 1994 and his doctorate ( strings, black holes and conformal field theory ). She was a Post-Doc at the Kavli Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and then a Senior Research Fellow at Caltech with John Schwarz . She then became an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah . She has been a professor at Texas A&M University since 2005 . In 2007 she was at the Institute for Advanced Study .

Becker deals with string theory, for example in the development of models that make predictions for the standard model and implement models of inflation in cosmology. She often worked closely with her sister Melanie Becker (also a professor at Texas A&M), with whom she and John Schwarz wrote a popular string theory textbook.

In 2003 she was a Sloan Fellow .
