Katrin Helling-Plahr (born April 2, 1986 in Hagen ) is a lawyer, German politician ( FDP ) and lawyer . She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

After finishing school, Katrin Helling-Plahr began studying law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 2005 . After her legal clerkship and the second state examination, she has been working as a lawyer since 2013 . From 2014 to 2015 she completed a postgraduate LL.M course with a focus on medical law at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . She has been a specialist lawyer for medical law since 2017.

Katrin Helling-Plahr has been a member of the FDP since 2005 .

She held various functions with the Young Liberals and the Free Democrats . She was on the district board of the FDP Hagen and on the district board of the FDP Westphalia-West. From 2009 to 2017 she was a member of the city council of Hagen and had been deputy parliamentary group leader since 2014. From 2012 to 2014 she was a member of the state board of the FDP and from 2011 to 2012 a member of the federal board. From 2011 to 2014 she was Deputy Federal Chairwoman for Organization on the Federal Board of Young Liberals.

For the 2017 federal election , Helling-Plahr ran as an FDP candidate in the constituency of Hagen - Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis I and was elected to the 19th German Bundestag via position 17 on the state list of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia . With the election to the Bundestag, she renounced her mandate in the city council of Hagen.

Helling-Plahr is a full member of the Committee on Health and the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection. She is also a deputy member of the electoral committee and the global health subcommittee.
