Katy Clark (born July 3, 1967 in Kilwinning ) is a British politician .

Life

Clark was born in Kilwinning in 1967. She attended Ayr Grammar Primary School and Kyle Academy in Ayr . Clark then studied law at Aberdeen University and graduated in 1990 with a bachelor's degree . She then obtained a law degree from the University of Edinburgh . In addition to her work as a freelance solicitor in Edinburgh and Musselburgh , she was involved in the GMB union . She later worked as a lawyer for the UNISON union.

Political career

In 1985, Clark joined the Labor Party . It first appeared in the 1997 general election to national elections. She ran for the Labor Party for the constituency of Galloway and Upper Nithsdale . Since Clark could only book the third largest share of the vote for itself, she missed the entry into the British House of Commons clearly. At the 2005 general election candidate Clark in the newly created constituency of North Ayrshire and Arran . It clearly prevailed against its opponents and subsequently moved into the House of Commons for the first time. In the 2010 elections she won votes and defended her mandate. As a result of massive voting losses, Clark resigned from the House of Commons in the 2015 general election . The mandate was won by SNP candidate Patricia Gibson .
