Katy Walther (born August 20, 1974 in Bad Salzungen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and a member of the state parliament of Hesse .

Life

Walther studied German language and literature , media studies and art history from 1994 to 1997 and from 2001 to 2004 at the Philipps University in Marburg and completed her studies with a Magistra Artium in German language and literature. From 1997 to 1999 she completed a traineeship as a daily newspaper editor at the Thuringian local newspaper Meininger Tageblatt and then worked from 2000 to 2001 for the daily newspaper Südthüringer Zeitung . After completing her studies, Walther worked from 2004 to 2009 as the editor-in-chief's assistant, author and layoter at medium magazin in Frankfurt am Main. At the same time and beyond, she was a freelance media journalist, freelance PR editor with a focus on non-profit companies from 2004 to 2018.

Katy Walther became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in March 2016. She has been a city councilor in Obertshausen for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2016 . In the state elections in Hesse in 2018 , she ran in the Offenbach Land I constituency and moved into the Hessian state parliament on January 18, 2019, at number 25 on the state list of the Greens. She works in the committees for digital and data protection, for economy, energy, transport and housing and in the petitions committee.

Katy Walther has two children.
