Location of Katzenloch in Rhineland-Palatinate

Katzenloch is a small town in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is part of the local community Kempfeld and has about 75 inhabitants.

Katzenloch is mentioned for the first time in 1758. The Rheingraf zu Rheingrafenstein granted the “hut owners Gebrüder Stumm zu der Asbacher Schmelz und Hämmer” permission in an inheritance document to create a pond in Katzenloch to accommodate the streams coming from Allenbach and Sensweiler and thus operate a hammer mill .

There is also a waterfall in Katzenloch. Next to the waterfall is the so-called Treff am Wasserfall , which is located near the former sawmill. The Steinbach also flows under the sawmill building.
