description
The house is located on Breiten Straße on Winckelmannplatz . It was opened in April 1930 by Ramelow , a company founded in Klütz in 1872 , and was the chain's first fashion house to be built in the Bauhaus style. The architect of the house was Bodo Ebhardt , the son-in-law of the company founder Gustav Ramelow. The company had previously operated a smaller department store in a neighboring half-timbered building.
At the end of the 1940s, the business was nationalized and from then on operated by the HO as a full department store under the name "Magnet". In 1991 the Ramelow family was able to purchase the house again and continue to run it as a textile department store.
