Kaya (迦 夜, Kanryoubinka, 'a bird that sings of the night world') is a Japanese singer from Tokushima, Shikoku. He is known as a soloist and through his collaboration with the former band members of Velvet EDEN , Hora (with whom he formed the band Schwarz Stein ) and KALM .

biography

Kaya was born in Tokushima ( Shikoku ). He has two older sisters and a younger brother. He says he was destined to become a singer after singing at a party in a karaoke bar at the age of three. For musical training he took piano lessons from the age of 14 and learned to read and write notes in middle school.

At the age of 18, Kaya joined the band Meties. At that time he called himself Hime (姫 / Japanese for princess). Meties were active in the late 1990s. Before they broke up, they only produced one demo tape between 1999 and 2000 - “Recur to Mind”. Only her song "Gekitsuu no Sora" was released on a compilation CD .

After graduating from high school, Kaya moved to Tokyo and joined the band ISOLA . Still as a member of ISOLA, he met keyboardist Hora in 2001 at a concert by the band Velvet EDEN. Shortly afterwards he founded Rudolf Steiner with him . Kaya was responsible for the duo's vocals and lyrics. Together they recorded two demo tapes, 'Perfect Garden' and 'Queen of Decadence'. In 2002 they caught the attention of Manas ( Moi dix Mois ). They signed a contract with his independent label Midi: Nette and changed their name to Schwarz Stein. At the same time, Kaya took his current name instead of 'Hime'. Schwarz Stein were now increasingly in the limelight. They released two singles , "Queen of Decadence" and "Current", and two albums , "New Vogue Children" and "Artificial Halluciation". Musical differences between the two band members led to the separation in 2004. In 2006 they got together again to bring out the project 'Another Cell'. Its first live performance without Hora on stage was the start of Kaya's solo career.

On July 23, 2006 he released his first solo single "Kaleidoscope", in September another, "Masquerade", and in December his debut album "Glitter". At that time he performed with bands like Wizard , UnsraW , HIZAKI grace project and Sugar at Kamijōs ( Versailles ) and Kanomas (now Hitomi , singer of Moran ) three-day Winter Romantic Festival. In February 2007 he gave his first solo concert in Shibuya O-West. In April his single Ouka "Ryouran" came out and he appeared at the Shock Wave Vol.1 event. On July 11th his mini album “Hyakkiyakou” was released and on Halloween the single “Carmilla”, written by HIZAKI (Versailles). Together with the artists KAMIJO (Versailles), HIZAKI and Juka (now Shaura , VII-Sense, formerly Moi dix Mois, Xover) he also appeared in the rock musical "Node of Scherzo".

In February 2008, Kaya signed a major record deal with Next Music . His first major single was "Chocolat", released in April of the same year. This was followed by a new recording of the album "Glitter" and a live DVD of his first concert as a major artist . In November he gave his first concert abroad at the Pacific Media Expo in Los Angeles (California), followed by a panel discussion with fans. In December the second major single "Last Snow" was released. In early 2009 he took part in a three-city tour called the Shinshun Chanson Show and released the mini-album “Bonjour! Chanson ”, which includes the cover versions of five French songs. With the CD he wanted to make the chanson better known in Japan and to show that the music style can also sound optimistic and happy. On April 22nd, he gave a special concert called Rose Kingdom, where he introduced a new song of the same name. This can be found on the single "Ophelia", which was released on July 22nd.
