Lycium grandicalyx a plant is art from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Lycium grandicalyx is an upright, prickly shrub that grows to a height of 0.5 to 1 m . The leaves are slightly succulent ; when young they are sparsely hairy with bristly, multicellular, glandular trichomes . They become 20 to 40 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide.
The flowers are hermaphroditic and five-fold. The chalice is enlarged and broad urn-shaped. The calyx tube is 9 to 12 mm long and covered with 3 to 4 mm long calyx lobes. The crown is broadly hemispherical and bent back. The corolla tube is 10 to 13 mm long, the corolla lobes are 3 to 5 mm long. The base of the stamens is hairy tomentose.
The fruit is an egg-shaped to spherical, red berry with a diameter of 7 to 8 mm.
Occurrence
The species is widespread on the African continent and occurs there in southern Namibia .
