Kaya İlhan

Kaya İlhan (born 1927 in Istanbul ; died October 3, 2013 in Bebek ) was a Turkish ballet dancer and the first ballerina in Turkey .

Her parents were Hayrettin and Nimet, her siblings Fahrettin, Mehpare, Turan, Türkan and Solmaz. İlhan started dancing in 1938. İlhan was the first ballet student at the Ankara State Conservatory of Hacettepe University . After graduating, İlhan was the first ballerina at the Ankara State Opera . İlhan learned choreography and staging at Sadler's Wells in London and studied modern dance theater in the USA. After returning to Turkey, Kaya İlhan taught dance and theater at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts for a long time . İlhan died in Bebek in 2013 and was buried in the Aşiyan cemetery .

Her niece was the actress Çolpan İlhan.
