Simon Pilarski (born October 19, 1990 in Wiesbaden ) is a German film producer , director and screenwriter .

Career

Pilarski realized his first film projects with a Hi8 camera at the age of twelve . After graduating from the vocational school in Mainz, he completed the Motion Pictures course at the media campus of Darmstadt University in Dieburg . During his training, Pilarski made the short films Liberated , Ultima Ratio , Evidence , Wie Blumen with Janina Elkin and Credo with Patrick Mölleken in the leading role.

In 2013 he founded the production company Sternenberg Films together with Konstantin Korenchuk . Since then he has worked on script development for cinema projects and the production of advertising films. In 2015 he produced the adventure war drama The White Owl , which tells the story of an old woman who wants to save her grandson from the clutches of World War II.

The mystery thriller Charity followed in 2016 with Oskar Keymer in the lead role. Pilarski wrote the script, produced and directed. The genre film takes place in a lonely village in the mid-19th century and deals with the sexual abuse of a young boy by a Catholic priest. For this film he received the Hessian University Film Award on October 21, 2016 .
