Kayl ( Luxembourgish Keel , for the residents "Käl") is a municipality in the south of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . It touches the border with France with a small tip . It belongs to the canton of Esch an der Alzette and consists of the two localities Kayl and Tetingen ( French: Tétange, luxemb. Téiteng) .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1235, when Alexander von Zolver bequeathed the goods in "Keyle" bought from the Canon of St. Paulin in Trier to the Differdinger Frauenstift . The name Kayl has changed very little since the 13th century, although over 20 different spellings are known.
