Kayserzinn is a pewter brand. It stands for extraordinary German Art Nouveau - tin .

history

Johann Peter (JP) Kayser managed his parents' metal goods factory in Krefeld, in the Oppum district . His brother Engelbert Kayser took over the artistic direction of the company from 1894. Numerous templates and models for the collection were created in his Cologne studio. Engelbert Kayser, who opened a luxury goods shop in Cologne on the corner of Hohe Strasse and Brückenstrasse in 1864, brought Art Nouveau, which had become very important around 1900, to tin production. He employed the sculptors and artists Hugo Leven , Karl Geyer, Johann Christian Kröner , Hermann Fauser and Karl Berghof . The pewter foundry was very successful with the production of Art Nouveau objects and employed up to 800 people during the weddings. The product range included lamps, candlesticks, picture frames, goblets, vases, tins, writing sets, bowls, coffee, tea, beer and liqueur service. The high formal and material quality of Kayserzinn was awarded gold medals at the world exhibitions in Paris in 1900 and in St. Louis in 1904 as well as at the epoch-making Turin exhibition of applied arts in 1902.

The tin was produced without the addition of lead ; antimony , a shiny silver and brittle semimetal was added. In the foundry, from 1894/95, the pewter objects produced were numbered consecutively on the underside next to the relief designation KAYSERZINN from the number 4000.

The Düsseldorf art caster Rolf Kayser comes from the pewter family.
