Kazım Turkmen

Kazım Türkmen (* 1972 in Şalpazarı ) is a Turkish Islamic theologian and legal scholar of the Turkish religious authority Diyanet . He acts as chairman of the Turkish-Islamic Union of the Institute for Religion (DİTİB) with headquarters in Cologne .

Life

Türkmen studied Islamic theology and Islamic law at Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi in Samsun . In 1996 he became an imam in a community in the Hayrat district near Trabzon . Between 1998 and 2000 he completed further training at Haseki Abdurrahman Gürses Eğitim Merkezi. He then worked as an imam in a community in the Ardeşen district of Rize . Between 2002 and 2005 he was a mufti in Eğil near Diyarbakır . In 2005, Türkmen came to Germany and worked as a religious commissioner in the Selimiye Mosque in Dinslaken , before he worked as a preacher in Turkey ( Istanbul ) again in 2009/10 . Most recently he was religious attache at the Turkish Consulate General in Stuttgart (2010–2012) and was appointed to the DİTİB Board of Directors in February 2012. In January 2019 he became chairman of DİTİB.
