Kazlų Rūda (German, 18th century: Koselrode ) is a city in Lithuania , in the Suvalkija region . It has about 7,300 inhabitants and is the seat of the Kazlų Rūda municipality with 14,620 inhabitants.

The first known mention of the place comes from the year 1737. The establishment of the place is connected with the extraction of lawn ore (lit. rūda 'ore'), the smelting and the charcoal burning . The first part of the city name comes from the personal name Kazla .
