Kazuo Kuroki

Kazuo Kuroki ( Japanese 黒 木 和 雄 Kuroki Kazuo; born November 10, 1930 in Matsusaka , † April 12, 2006 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese director and screenwriter .

Kuroki began his career as a documentary filmmaker before making feature films in the 1960s. Some of these low-budget films like Tobenai chinmoku and Ryoma ansatsu are now considered classics of Japanese cinema. From the end of the 1980s he made a trilogy about the Second World War . Ashita ( The Day Before , 1988) and Utsukushii natsu kirishima (A Boy's Summer, 2002) play in the last days of the war, while Chichi to kuraseba (The Face of Jizô, 2004) reflects the trauma of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki .
