The Ke-Go protected area is located in the south of the Ha Tinh Province, in the natural area of North Annam in Vietnam . The area covers an area of 248 km².

appointment

With Decision No. 519 / QD-UBon of the Ha Tinh People's Committee on May 3, 1997, Ke Go was declared a nature reserve. The reason for this was the rediscovery of the Vietnam pheasant ( Lophura hatinhensis ) and the imperial pheasant ( Lophura imperialis ) in the southern Ha Tinh province in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This natural area is the only known occurrence of Lophura hatinhensis in Vietnam. The German biologist Thomas Ziegler was able to detect almost 100 species of amphibians and reptiles in Ke-Go. Large mammals are rare due to the high hunting pressure. So there are probably no more elephants here. Ke-Go is home to one of the last lowland rainforests in Vietnam . In total, the area is protected by around 70 people, including 56 rangers . Illegal logging , poaching and the collection of oil to extract fragrances threaten this habitat . The Netherlands and ORO-VERDE financially support a project to preserve the area.
