The Kehrli and Kerli families have been based in Utzenstorf since 1527 at the latest .

history

The Kerli family name has been tangible in the area of the former Fraubrunnen office since the early 14th century . A junker from the Frieso family sold two farms in Jegenstorf to Peter von Krauchthal in 1310, including the church set and bailiwick as well as other properties in Jegenstorf. One of these properties was described in the deed of purchase as situm ibidem inter duos rivos prope domum Kerlis (located between two streams, next to the Kerli house). Wernher Kerli, his wife Berchta and their son Burkard are mentioned in the Jegenstorfer Jahrzeitbuch on April 6th. Perhaps the aforementioned Burkard is identical to Mr. Burckart Kerlis, knight , who is entered in the Worb Church's year book . The mention of Mr. Burkard Kerli Ritter clearly indicates that said Burkard the knighthood possessed. Rural dignitaries could receive the non-hereditary knighthood if they had excelled in wars. Name bearers also settled in the nearby cities of Bern and Solothurn. A Claus Kerli can be found as a burger in Solothurn in the 15th century .

In 1437 resulting handwriting of the Landshut Urbars of Rudolf von Ringoltingen the name Kerli does not appear, but there are in numerous changes in ownership, the witness could purchase that different members of the family during the 15th century in Utzenstorf country. In the oldest Büren-Urbar , a bearer of the name Kerli in Utzenstorf appears for the first time in 1520: Benedict Kerli von Utzistorff , who acquired Ackermatt there. This is likely to be identical to Ammann Bendicht Kerli from Utzenstorf , who, together with his official colleague zu Bätterkinden, signed the Landshut Bailiwick's response to the Bernese Reformation mandate in 1527 . The first baptismal register of the Utzenstorf church was begun in 1555 and contains numerous entries under the name Kerli. Johannes Kehrli (1749–1803) left the Utzenstorf community with his wife Barbara Jost in 1798 and settled in Fuhrenweid ( Oberbalm ). Another branch established itself in Neuchâtel and Le Locle.
