Cuneiform texts from Boghazköi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cuneiform texts from Boghazköi ( KBo for short ) are a 70- volume scientific series that served as the main publication organ for the publication of cuneiform text finds from the excavations of the German Archaeological Institute in Boğazköy (today Boğazkale ).

The series was launched by Emil Forrer in 1916–1921 and published by the German Orient Society . From 1921, the series of cuneiform documents from Boghazköi took its place. After the Second World War, however, the series was resumed and has been published by the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz since 1979 , after 26 volumes had already been published. After the last text finds from older excavations were published in 2015, a 71st volume will initially only be published online as a continuing publication. The background to this is that in recent years only a few text finds were made during the excavations in Boğazköy. Volume 71 should therefore only go to press when it has grown sufficiently.
