Goneal ligament

As gonads bands to two designated connective tissue structures of the front and rear part of the conditioning of the gonads , the genital ridge , formed.

Anterior / upper gonadal ligament

The anterior (in humans, upper) gonad ligament runs from the gonad to the diaphragm . In male animals, it disappears completely with the onset of testicular descent . In female animals it forms the hanging ligament of the ovary ( ligamentum suspensorium ovarii ).

Posterior / lower gonadal ligament

The posterior (lower in humans) goneal ligament runs from the gonad into the vaginal process . In male embryos , it is significantly involved in the descent of the testes and is therefore also known as the gubernaculum testis (testicular ligament). It develops into the two ligaments within the scrotum ( ligamentum testis proprium , ligamentum caudae epididymidis ). In female individuals, the posterior (caudal) gonadal ligament grows together with the uterine wall at the tube angle , then divides into two sections: the cranial ligamentum ovarii proprium ("self-ligament of the ovary") and the caudal ligamentum teres uteri ("round uterine ligament "). The ligamentum teres uteri runs through the inguinal canal and ends in women in the tissue of the mons pubis and the great labia .
