Sprout Algra

Keimpe Algra (* 1959 ) is a Dutch historian of philosophy and classical philologist .

Algra studied philosophy and classical philology at the University of Utrecht , where he received his doctorate in 1988 with a dissertation on Concepts of Space in Classical and Hellenistic Philosophy .

Algra works mainly on Hellenistic philosophy and ancient physics , especially concepts of space .

Since 1997 he has served on the executive editorial board of Phronesis magazine . From 2000 to 2003 he was Dutch Royal Academy Professor, in 2001 he was appointed to the full professorship for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy at the University of Utrecht. In February 2003 he was invited to give the AE Taylor Lecture at Edinburgh University.
