Originally the name of the company was Yorkshire Water plc , which was privatized as a regional state-owned company in 1989 . In 1999 the name was changed to Kelda Group. Kelda Group provides water to millions of people in northern England , particularly in the River Ouse area . In 2000, Kelda acquired the Aquarion water supply business in the United States , which was sold again in 2007. In 2008, Kelda was taken over by Saltaire Water . Until the takeover by this investment consortium, the Kelda Group was listed on the London Stock Exchange in the FTSE 100 .
