history

The company was founded on July 5, 1878 in Munich by Heinrich Kalmbach and August Keller as a wholesaler for screws and horseshoes. In 1908 the company was taken over by the Seidl family and has been 100% family-owned ever since. In 1962, Keller & Kalmbach was the first German screw dealer to start series production in the automotive industry. In 1976, Keller & Kalmbach was one of the first companies in the industry to set up its own quality department. In 2001 and 2010, Keller & Kalmbach was awarded the “Bavarian Quality Prize” by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology. Keller & Kalmbach has been participating in the ÖKOPROFIT initiative since 2007 . The EMAS environmental management system was introduced at four locations in 2017.

In 2005, 100 percent of the shares in Widex Peters GmbH, Düsseldorf, were taken over, then Keller & Kalmbach GmbH merged in 2012 to form Keller & Kalmbach Widex GmbH. The merger took legal effect in April 2013.

Craft

Florian Seidl is the 1st chairman of the Munich Art Association . Each floor in the main building is individually furnished and has its own color scheme. Pictures and paintings were made by artists from the Munich region. When planning and furnishing the head office in Unterschleißheim and the central warehouse in Hilpoltstein, great importance was attached to the aesthetics of the building. Peter Straßl was the artistic director for both buildings. Klaus Damovski was the architect responsible for planning the central warehouse.
