The cellar of the guest house of the monastery Our Dear Women is a listed cellar in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located east of the government road on the east side of the monastery church of the monastery of Our Dear Women in Magdeburg's old town .

Architecture and history

The cellar consists of a Gothic vault made of brick built into the city wall from the 12th century . The vault was the cellar of the monastery guest house from 1510, although the guest house has not been preserved. Above the basement there is an open space and small remains of the wall. The east wall of the cellar is formed by the historic city wall of Magdeburg. On the outer side of the quarry stone city ​​wall there are buttress templates and relief arches of various sizes. The access to the cellar is in the northern part of the vault. A stone spiral staircase leads down from the open space above the cellar . The access is closed by a modern steel cover. The substructure of the stair spindle is based on a rectangular floor plan. It consists of a handrail made of stone . There is also a narrow arched window .

The cellar of the functional monastery building is a testimony to medieval Magdeburg and is considered to be of cultural, historical and artistic importance.

In the local register of monuments , the cellar is listed as a monument under registration number 094 06320 .
