Kelly Murphy (born November 3, 1989 ) is an Irish cyclist who is active on the road and track .

Athletic career

It took Kelly Murphy an hour and a half to get to work by train, so she decided to cycle the six miles. In doing so, she discovered her passion for cycling. Within six months she developed so much that she was able to compete in races.

In 2016 Murphy became active as a cyclist. In 2017 she finished second in the Irish championship in the individual time trial , in 2018 and 2019 she won the title and competed in this discipline at the UCI road world championships in both years . At the UEC European Road Championships in 2019 , she was tenth in the individual time trial. This made her the first female cyclist from Ireland to place in the top ten at the European Road Championships. In the same year she started at the European Railway Championships in Apeldoorn , finished fourth in the single pursuit and also started in the team pursuit (9th place).
