He was a close companion of Meyer Lansky and long-time vicarious agent of Louis "Lepke" Buchalter . In particular, Lansky and his brother Jack stood by their side when it came to controlling casinos in Florida ; like in particular the Colonial Inn .

In 1965, he was in a restaurant in Little Italy of New York City arrested for relationship with well-known professional criminals used, for the purpose of illegal activities (on "consorting with known criminals for unlawful purposes").

Before going to trial, Kovolick fled the city because he feared that the investigation into him would also reveal his involvement and involvement in organizing illegal gambling, bribery and corruption . Authorities tried to bring him back to New York, but Kovolick disappeared.

On April 7, 1971, his body was discovered in a steel barrel at the bottom of a rock canyon (am. Modus Operandi : Barrel Murder ) near Hallandale in Florida . John Alvin Baxter , 36, was later arrested and sentenced to death in connection with his apparent murder . The verdict was probably turned into a life sentence.
