The Kelly skirt is a prominent rock on the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It rises above Try Pot Beach .

Named after the rock is Bernard Kelly, one of the survivors of near the Elephant Spit decline on October 17, 1880 whaling ship Trinity , who shortly afterwards in search of food along with the ship's carpenter George Watson of hypothermia as a result of a storm on the Stephenson Glacier died and is buried in a shared grave with Watson on Skua Beach .
