Kemistry & Storm

Kemistry & Storm was a British drum and bass DJ duo , consisting of Kemistry ( Valerie Olukemi A Olusanya , 1963-1999) and Storm ( Jane Conneely ). Together with Goldie , they founded the Metalheadz label and gained worldwide recognition as female DJs in a male-dominated music scene.

Kemistry and Storm met at College in Northampton and later met again in London . In the early 1990s they decided to perform as a DJ team. Together with Goldie, they ran the Metalheadz label for two and a half years before they split up and also worked with other labels. Her best-known sound carrier remained her mix album from the DJ-Kicks series of Studio K7 in 1999.

In the early morning of April 25, 1999, Kemistry was killed in a traffic accident. As a passenger, she was hit by a flying marker stone that a truck detached directly in front of her on the M3 Motorway near Winchester . The unexpected death triggered sadness and horror in the scene worldwide.

Since then, Storm has performed alone under the name DJ Storm.
